They had no explanation as to why spectrums online speed test was showing the results to be so much slower. I called spectrum, they claimed to be able to check my speed at my modem from their end to which it measured 238 Mbps. The placement of your Gateway is the key to ensuring both coverage and speed for your devices. Not sure why spectrum and at&t were so far off of the others. As you move away from your Gateway (modem or router), signal strength diminishes, slowing upload/download speeds and reducing coverage. I tested 12 different speed tests through my browser including spectrum and at&t 8 times each, results for each stayed consistent throughout the tests. Only at&t had as bad of results as spectrum. Most of the others i just tested had between 185 and 265. Now to the speed tests, spectrum speed test over a browser currently shows 65 Mbps while ookla shows 246 Mbps. Could be too many users on the node, poor connections in the cabling or any number of causes. This can be confirmed by asking spectrum engineers directly as i did. Anything short of those speeds indicate an actual problem. Not the speeds measured leaving their servers. The speeds advertised are what you should receive at the tap. I have no clue how these things get calculated but if they guarantee a range of speeds to their customers then those are the speeds you should get, regardless of any outside factors that have been spoken of or insinuated. I read this and couldnt help remembering how i pulled my hair out over speed tests in the past, near past. Higher values of jitter indicate that your internet connection isn’t stable.I have spectrum internet, for me im supposed to get up to 250 Mbps if i remember correctly. For a stable and good internet connection, jitter should be as low as possible. It expresses the fluctuations that occur in the ping value in milliseconds. Jitter explains the stability of your internet connection. A ping can be considered if its value ranges from 0-40 ms. The lower their ping is, the faster they will get the response from the server. The most important use of Ping is for online gamers who need a quick response from the servers when playing online. Unlike Download and Upload speeds where higher value is better, for Ping the lower value, the better it is. Ping is the response time of your internet connection that is measured in milliseconds. The third parameter that you will notice is Ping. The higher the value of upload speed, faster will be your data upload rate and it comes in handy when you are streaming or for backups in the cloud. Upload Speed means that how fast your internet can upload data to the Internet. Just like the download speed, the upload speed is also measured in Mbps. Upload Speed is the second basic value that you will get when you perform a speed test. Most of the times you will notice that the value download speed is higher than the upload speed it is because the internet connection that you get is asymmetrical. The higher your download, the faster your internet connection will be. It shows the actual, real-time download speed of the data to your device in Mbps. When you perform a speed test then the first that you will notice is the download speed. While you perform a speed test on our website, you will receive the following outputs: My spectrum speed test after I upgraded the laptop that I use as a network server machine. As of April 2021, Spectrum’s national average download speed is 120.23 Mbps.
